What is the Sandwich Etiquette on Thanksgiving?
I know that eating with your hands at a nice sit down dinner isn't a great look. I get that. But it's also an absolute certainty that most foods taste exponentially better when bookended by bread. I'm a habitual sandwich builder. Any place. Anywhere. Any time. If you put a dinner roll in front of me while I also have some meat hanging around ten times out of ten I'm smashing those together. It's simply a better way to live.
Now, when I had Thanksgiving with my own relatives this wasn't an issue. You don't have to put on airs around your close family. For the most part, they know who you are and what you're about. Some of them may even be shocked if I were to keep the bread and turkey separated!
At another families table though? Yeah, that's when it gets tricky. Do you go with your brain or do you go with your heart/stomach? As you saw, I went with my heart but kept it on the very down low. Dropping my head and sneaking quick bites like I was sneaking food to the dog under the table. Only I was the dog.
So what do you guys think? Are you allowed to make sandwiches out of Thanksgiving dinner?
