BBC: A Canadian court has awarded a former Burger King cook $46,000 ($35,000 USD) in damages after she was fired for taking home a fish sandwich, fries and beverage.
I'd love to really flesh this one out but I don't think it's necessary. I'll get straight to the point. If you work for Burger King for 24 years, making 21 grand a year that means you are either a serial killer keeping a low profile or you had a personal aide in elementary school. 24 years and she was still going strong punching registers and shaking fries. She's in her fifties so the manager and owner know they have at least ten more years of her employ. At some point you've just got to pull the plug. Wait for the slightest infraction and kick her out the door. They knew a lawsuit was coming but what's 46 grand to a Burger King owner? Invent the McRib for a weekend and you're back to even.
As far as the whole sandwich only and combo meal confusion... don't tell me you've worked for Burger King for 24 years and also tell me you don't know how to properly identify how to ask for a combo meal and how to ask for just the sandwich. I'd say on an 8 hour shift the words "combo meal or just the sandwich?" leave your mouth no less than 160 times.
P.S. I worked for Dominos in college solely because it allowed me to walk in drunk at night and make my own pizzas. My Mohammed was a lot cooler than this Mohammed. (I went to his wedding... wild times)
P.P.S. Here's the part of the story I left out so I didn't feel like an asshole while writing it. "Her husband is physically disabled and she also supports an adult daughter with a mental disability. She is the sole earner in her household."
I like the Yankees, watching TV shows and talking about stuff.
