Trying to find an affordable place to live in the Bay Area is about as hard as it is to not lose socks. The prices are outrageous. The shelf life of a posting is about twenty minutes. They come and go at the snap of a finger and only the quickest will be rewarded. You have to set up craigslist alerts. You have to leave padmapper, zumper, and apartmentlist tabs constantly open on your desktop. Then you have to know the right people and be able to make yourself likeable. It's a tough time in the apartment renting game. I thought I was golden when I finally stumbled upon a place I could afford and had a good chance of nailing down.
When the choices are live with 6 roommates in a 4 bedroom place all sharing two bathrooms and one kitchen or live by yourself with the ocean at your feet, surrounded by the smell of sea air and the sound of the breeze it's fairly simple. Give me the homeless shelter and I will make it my castle. That place right there is nothing a little love couldn't fix up. Find some beach wood to fill in the gaps. Then cover the entire thing with a tarp. Sleep on the warm sand during low tide and the roof during high. You probably get a lot of derelicts wandering by looking to masturbate or die in public so you won't feel completely abandoned from the lack of neighbors. It's not the best apartment out there but it would get the job done.
I shot the guy an email with some inquirers.
annnndddd............. nothing. No reply. I'm just another email lost among hundreds of emails. Missing out once again on an affordable option that didn't seem like a scam. Back to the grind.
