Vikings continues to be one of my favorite shows. Even with Ragnar out of the scene I still don't see it dropping off. Ragnar was fucking awesome! He was clearly the best part of the show. Travis Fimmel did a great job bringing a childlike wonder to the character with subtle things like facial twitches and body posture. Without Ragnar the show doesn't get a second season.
Now we have no Ragnar and it continues to be a compelling story. Bjorn has really picked things up and become a leading man. Ivor hasn't even begun to peak yet and Lagertha is taking over and looking better than ever. That's a real testament to the writing and acting. It's written by one dude too. That's very impressive.
Anyway, last night we had the sons track down Ragnar's killer, King Ælla, drag him by horse to their fathers place of death, then have their way with him. They gave him a Blood Eagle, which we have seen before. It is maybe the most gruesome way to die. I won't go into the specifics of it. Google it or rewatch season two if you want the gory details.
After the killing the brothers and Floki have a nice moment were they look at the masterpiece they have created. It reminded me a lot of a scene from Friday Night Lights. I cut them together for comparison.
Which proves that Explosions in the Sky can make any scene have more effect.
Also, as I mentioned, Lagertha looks better than ever. How can that be? Katheryn Winnick, the actress that plays her is 39 years old. Pretty positive she's aging in reverse.
Also also, Floki's body posture and gate are super weird looking.
I like the Yankees, watching TV shows and talking about stuff.
