First I woke up to crazy thunder storms at around seven in the morning. It was pouring. The thunder sounded like it was crashing through my window. Usually you don't want storms on a summer vacation but it has been so long since I've been in a big thunder storm so it was kind of cool.
After waking up I caught myself up on Big Brother. Sat around for a little and vegged. Then the girls all went to the city so Courtney could try on her wedding dress. Which meant it was a boys day.
My dad, and the little guys, Koa and Reef made our way to the beach. It was overcast but the water was still warm and the sand still entertained us.
The Schuff boys are monsters in the ocean. Zero fear. They want to catch waves and ride them in and do not want to be held. Here's a video of Reef 'catching a wave'. He'd wait for the white wash to come then dive into it headfirst.
Along with riding in waves we played the classic O'Brien beach games. One is where my dad makes a bunch of piles of sand and under one pile the ball is buried. The boys take turns smashing the piles until they find the ball. Classic game. Next is the ball roller coaster, which is actually a classic beach game. For thirty years now my dad has been making these and they always keep the kids entertained for a good half hour. Here's a thirty second recap video of the beach.
After the beach we came home and had some lunch. We sat out front and watched the action on the street. Kids running around. Beach goers coming and going. And a construction truck doing some work. Reef really liked watching the truck go back and forth.
Soon we moved inside and played a couple games of Rummikub. Rummikub is a staple of the shore house. We always played it with my grandma growing up. It is my favorite game because a lot of thinking goes on. My head usually physically hurts after playing.
After the game everyone got cozy on the couch and we watched a movie. The Notebook. It was a perfect lazy afternoon activity on an overcast day. We were all hanging out, chatting and watching Noah do his thing.
Dinne was leftovers from the big meal we had Sunday night. Our post dinner activity was a walk around town. Down to the stores. Reef and I went into Rite Aid and had a grand old time picking out future Blind Taste Test items.
He bought himself a package of Darbursts.
We came home and watched the end of the Yankee game with Grandma and then everyone called it a night and headed to bed.
For an overcast day I'd say it was well spent. Tomorrow we have a scavenger hunt planned and I have a lot of cooking to day, since it is my night to make dinner.
I like the Yankees, watching TV shows and talking about stuff.
