I watch a lot of television shows. A lot a lot. I think I am currently watching 50 something shows that are in production. If you ever want to chat about a show, hit me up because I love talking about anything to anyone.
Any way this is a Netflix show that I watched about a year ago and loved. The reason I am talking about it now is because the second season will come out in November. Netflix is trying to push it back onto its subscribers because it didn't do well when they released it. The reason it did so bad was because it had a horrible name. It was originally called Scrotal Recall, which goes with the plot of the show and is a play on Total Recall but just didn't work. No one wants to watch something called Scrotal Recall. No one sees the name Scrotal Recall and thinks it is going to be a well made, funny, love story. They think it's going to be a Beavis and Butthead shit show.
It is now called Lovesick and I think you guys should all give it a shot.
The plot for season one is the main character, Dylan, gets diagnosed with an chlamydia and he now has to track down all the girls he's slept with and let them know... it's the right thing to do. It also throws him into the self pity trap of 'why am I so shitty at being a boyfriend?'.
Along for the ride are his two best friends Evie and Luke. Evie you will fall in love with because she's super sweet and has awesome hair. Luke is the annoying alpha douche character that becomes lovable.
Each episodetells the story of the girl who he is breaking the news to. But it is not an episodic sitcom. There is a heavy over arching storyline and love story. Because the majority of the episodes are not linear, it is the job of the viewer to piece together the time line and order of events. One episode may deal in the present, the next may be three years ago, then the next one year ago, then back to the present again. This is what makes it fun. Having to follow the web they are weaving.
It's also well shot. It's not your normal sitcom with high lighting and basic coverage. Not that most people instinctively notice those things but it makes a difference. It feels more thought out and of a higher quality then other comedies. It's got fun British accents and the subtle British humor, which I am a fan of.
It's only six, twenty-five minute episodes. Very easy to watch in one sitting. Go watch season 1 before Season 2 starts in November.
I'm around if you want to talk about any of the following shows.
I like the Yankees, watching TV shows and talking about stuff.
