I always love a good abandoned building. Usually they are torn down and have gone to shit. You're left having to imagine what it looked like back when. This house has gone to shit but for the most part it's still all there. A true trip back in to time.
Stuff I Enjoyed
The map desk! Cause how else would you know where anything in the world was. I love maps. I love geography. This was the only way this family knew anything about geography. I would hope a lot of learning was done in this corner. "On the television they just said there was a revolution in Zanzabar. Where the hell is that?" "Check the map!" "Oh there it is, a little island of off Afreeka."
Ummm Bob? Why are you keeping your hand gurnaid inside a safe in the kitchen? An MK-1 is from the first World War. They had so many malfunctions that they were discontinued before the war ended. Which, to me makes me think Bob had this as a collectors piece. It's a weird way to store a collectors piece. Seems like it deserves a more formal warning sign as well.
I also love that he didn't know how to spell grenade. His pronunciation was so off he probably didn't even know how to find it in the dictionary. Gun... Gurgle...Gurney... what the fuck? Where is gurnaid? Ahh fuck it. That's such a bizarre world compared to now. Now you have no excuse for being dumb. Back then it was pretty hard to be smart.
I need these presidential match books. No doubt they were purchased for the bicentennial 4th of July celebration. It has 1976 written all over it.
Mom and dad up front. Kids in the back. Dad gets the ottoman. Mom gets the seat closest to the kitchen. That's the 1970's dream right there.
This one is just bizarre. A time warp within a time warp. She looks pretty happy.
Things That Made Me Sad
I don't know what these are but it's safe to assume they were a cherished collection. This lady probably bought one of these whenever she saw them. Might have received some as gifts. Or maybe it was one big purchase. Either way, it was something collected and put on display and now has been sitting there for no one to see, collecting dust. If my mom had a prized collection I think me or one of my siblings would take it with us. Even if we don't appreciate it. Mom appreciated it so don't let it go to shit.
This could be said for the entire house though. The description says the mom died and the kids never cared about the house or its belongings. SAD!
Vinyl Christmas tree? Get the fuck outta here. No wonder these kids hated their mom. If you half ass holidays you half ass your kids childhood.
"Lasts for years," well we can surely put that to test.
Everything I said about the china collection....well times that by ten. This is straight up sad. I wish I knew what those trophies were for. I'd love it if they were bowling or bingo club.
I don't really know why this made me sad but it did. Neatly put away towels. Folded up nicely for the next person to use. That next person never came. It doesn't even matter that you folded them nicely. No one saw them for forty years. Nothing matters, that's how this makes me feel.
Other important questions....
Who owns this house? Why has it never been sold, condemned, repossessed? Is it far away from civilization so no one knows about it? if that's the case how did this youtuber find it? Imagine if it's the middle of an active and modern neighborhood? Can't be. Teenagers would have ruined it long ago.
Bizarre. Very interesting but bizarre.
I like the Yankees, watching TV shows and talking about stuff.
