First off, whoever named this species a False Killer Whale is a jokester. A False Killer Whale is a dolphin. It's also a false sea lion and false bird. There's a lot of things it is not. What it is is a dolphin.
This thing beached itself a couple weeks ago. The rescuers found it, hung out with it for a while then threw it back in the ocean and said be free. Turns out maybe the whale didn't want to be free. It swam right back up to shore and dragged itself to dry sand. The humans of Australia found it. Saw it had the same markings on it's head so figured they didn't release it in deep enough waters. In the video you can see they transport it Free Willy style on the back of a truck and drop it back into the ocean farther away.
Here's the problem. This false killer whale (dolphin) wasn't getting accidentally beached. I'm 95 percent sure these were suicide attempts. Want to know why this is? Well, check this out...
How would you feel knowing you're entire species is dying off for unknown reasons? 95 stranded and only ONE known survivor! Would you rather be the only false killer whale (dolphin) left or go die and be with your buddies? This False Killer Whale (dolphin) wants no part of the ocean. He's depressed. He's done. He's over it. The humans keep fucking it up for him. Hopefully if it beaches itself again they will learn not to help it. Much like the people in Antarctica have learned not to help the suicidal penguins.
