First off. Your wedding day is your wedding day and you should do whatever you want to do. It's your day. I'm not trying to persuade anyone out of a tradition they love and I'm not trying to call them stupid for enjoying it. That being said. The money dance is the worst, most awful, tacky tradition in all of weddings and I fucking hate it.
If you don't know what the money dance is that's most likely because you are not from the west coast. I had filmed over 50 weddings in Connecticut/New York/New Jersey and had never seen it or heard of it. It's fairly common out here though. What happens is, the bride and groom stand on the dance floor and people line up to dance with them. When they get to the front of the line they have to pay for the dance. They pin the money onto the bride and grooms clothes and dance for thirty seconds or so and the next person goes. It's crazy tacky.
Here are all my problems with the money dance....
Alright, cool. Glad I got that off my chest. For everyone saying, "but weddings are supposed to be fun and corny, it what makes them weddings. Like the bouquet and garter toss, those are stupid but everyone likes those". To you I say, nah, those are stupid and should be phased out as well. Awkward city. But at least you're not charging guests to participate.
If you like hearing about the inside wedding stuff I usually write about one thing a week in the Saturday Pointless Anecdotes.
I like the Yankees, watching TV shows and talking about stuff.
