No network throws as mush shit at the wall as Comedy Central does. In the last five or six years they have had about twenty different shows premiere and get cancelled. Most of them are some form of sketch or talk show anchored by a comedian. Shows such as, The Besnon Interruption, The Burn with Jeff Ross, Gabriel Iglesias Presents, Not Safe with Nikki Glaser, Kroll Show, Sports with Norm MacDonald, Nick Swardsons Pretend Time, Why? with Hannibal Buress and to be honest there are even more on that list. It's ridiculous how many shows Comedy Central throws at us.
Of course some of them have stuck around and are deserving but I still go into every new CC show with zero expectations. In fact I almost go into it thinking I will hate it.
That's what I did with The Detroiters but in the end I didn't hate it and I actually came out of it wanting to let people know they should give it a shot.
It premieres Tuesday February 7th but they have put the pilot out already to create some buzz. First off, if you do not enjoy Always Sunny in Philadelphia or Workaholics, don't even give this a shot. You won't like it. It's a buddy comedy with stupid humor that makes you shake your head and think "that's so fucking stupid, but then they do something to stack more stupid on top of the stupid and you start giggling".
It's about two friends who are in the ad business. They took over one of their dads once very successful business and turned it into a a two bit production team. They specialize in shitty local commercials that air during the darkest hours of the night. They have aspirations to be great though and when Chrysler is in town looking for a new marketing agency, they think they have a shot to land the job.
The two of them are the epitome of dumb town losers. They live next door to each other in nice houses, thanks to the great economy in Detroit. They play mini basketball in the office and call fouls on each other. They drink at the shitty bar in town and then move the party to a parking lot so they can cheer on the garbage men and women as they head out for the morning route. Basically an ideal life, if you ask me.
If you read all that and still interested give it a go. Don't watch the full two minute trailer on youtube though because I watched that and had no interest in it at all.
