Bill Nye Saves the World
The last time I watched Bill Nye's TV show the substitute teacher had to wheel in a TV and VCR to play it. It's been a while. My guess is people are going to love this show. Chemistry teachers always think they are magicians. They blow stuff up in class, use chemicals to melt things and all that good stuff. Everyone always eats it up and this shouldn't be any different. It looks like they got him a ton of famous guest starts, which I think will be the biggest draw. If you want to watch cool science stuff you can find hundreds of examples on youtube. I'll tune in but this basically seems like they gave a pretentious chemist a late night talk show. I think it has the possibility to get stale very fast.
My brain can't watch this and not think she is Annie and about to get adopted by Daddy Warbucks. This is not Little Orphan Annie. It is Anne of Green Gables. Based on the 1919 novel about a red headed orphan who is mistakenly sent to the wrong family. Judging by the trailer I would say that Netflix isn't to confident in this one. Instead of pumping up the show they went with the "new ginger in town" promotion technique. Not a ringing endorsement on the actual production of the show. This trailer was basically Netflix saying see all these other shows we made that are good? Well this one has a girl with similar hair color so maybe it will be good as well!
Dear White People
This will be a longer retelling of the 2014 movie of the same name. I never watched the movie, which is weird since it was written directly to me. Each episode is going to dive into one character from what I have read and in each episode I will learn a lesson. This trailer taught me not to participate in black face. For the past 28 years I have excelled in not doing black face. Unfortunately, the people that don't excel at that probably aren't going to tune into this show.
This show is about a rebellious girl who refuses to grow up. She sells vintage clothes online and somehow becomes very succesful at it. I saw the trailer and thought it was going to be a girl power show where the audience gets another female character they can heavily root for. Much like Good Girls Revolt, but then I read that they are making the lead character unlikable and as complex as male anti heroes. That sounds interesting! I also have a crush on Britt Robertson ever since I saw the movie The First Time. It is produced by the writer of Pitch Perfect so it has some promise.
Talladega Nights meets Robot Chicken. I don't like cartoons so I won't watch this but if you do like cartoons then maybe you will watch this.
This is the plot to Batman Begins but with a homeless yoga teacher as the lead. I'll watch it because I have watched all the other Marvel series on Netflix and I need to know what's going on when The Defenders comes out but this doesn't seem all that original.
The OA Season 2
I was beyond disappointed with the path The OA went down. I have never been more invested and hooked on a TV show and then suddenly lost all interest. The moment the yoga dance actually brought someone back to life I was out. Then they ended it without answering so many questions. The camp fire story telling and the captivity was the stronghold. I didn't care for the multiple dimensions and alternate timelines. The first two episodes of season two will play a huge part on if I watch this entire series or not.
Not sure if this is in good taste really? But it was creepy as hell and I am going to watch the hell out of this. Making a Murderer even with all its flaws was entrancing. The same goes for the Amanda Knox documentary. Hopefully this is of the same caliber. And to answer the little girls question, her brother killed her.
