People in California Lined up for hours for the Opening of a Dunkin' Donuts and I Can't even Imagine How Let Down They Were
EBT - With the enthusiasm typically reserved for long-anticipated movie premieres or new, gourmet food trends, dozens of people lined up Wednesday for the arrival of a franchise well-known to the rest of the country: Dunkin' Donuts.
This is such a classic moment. It's like how everyone who doesn't live near a Sonic thinks Sonic is amazing just because they advertise nationally and everybody is enthralled with what they can't have. When you finally get to a Sonic, you realize its maybe one notch above Burger King.
Here we have all these Californians constantly hearing about Dunkin' Donuts. They see the advertisements, they see every cop on every TV show drinking the coffee and eating the donuts. It's so foreign to them but yet such a staple of Americana. They need to see what it's all about. Just HAVE TO try the famous Dunkin' Donuts.
The first part is true. It is a staple in the east coast. New England has more Dunkin' Donuts than McDonalds. People do love the coffee. The donuts are donuts. The rest of the food is straight trash! These people waited on line for two plus hours. They probably were so hungry when the walked in that they ordered real food expecting it to be good. Only to bite into it and find its the same quality or worse than McDonalds. Dunkin' Donuts food is for dire times only. I've tried the chicken sandwiches a handful of times and every time the chicken scares the shit out of me (and I'm a guy who doesn't care about germs or grossness). The chicken is all veiny and theres always one bite that you can't actually get through.
The other thing is that yeah, people in the east coast LOVE Dunkin Donuts coffee. Absolutely love it. But I have never met one person who didn't grow up on Dunkin Donuts coffee and tried it later on and liked it. Its all watery and weak. Californians that have grown up and got acquainted with Starbucks are not going to taste Dunkin' Donuts and enjoy it. People like what they grew up with and thats fact.
The donuts are good but donuts are donuts. I guarantee the vast majority of people who waited in this line were extremely let down.
Now if In n Out came to the east coast and there were lines that would be warranted.
I like the Yankees, watching TV shows and talking about stuff.
